The First Appointment.
The first appointment consists of a in-depth assessment by our wound care team, a review of the medical history and additional tests if needed. On the first appointment the patient should bring medical records, insurance card(s), a list of all medications, and a list of allergies you may have. The Wound Care Specialist will evaluate the wound and will recommend the best treatment plan for the particular problem.
A debridement or other minor surgical intervention will be performed if needed. We generally follow our new patients with frequent visits to provide local wound care until the situation has stabilized. We will communicate our findings and recommended treatment to the referring doctor.
The Community Need.
Difficult and chronic wounds are a common problem afflicting patients across a broad spectrum. The Wound Care Center in the Cedars-Sinai Professional Towers was formed by reconstructive specialists to fulfill a pressing need in our community for an expert and comprehensive Wound Center to evaluate, treat and achieve complete healing for these patients in a warm and efficient environment.
