Power Pair

When used together, Botox® Cosmetic softens wrinkles and Collagen fills in creases, becoming an instant mini-makeover with lasting results!
Collagen is a natural protein that is part of the human body. Collagen is present in your skin, joints, bones and ligaments. Injectable collagen, patented under trade names Zyderm and Zyplast, is derived from purified bovine collagen. The purification process transforms the bovine collagen into a product that is similar to human collagen. Injectable collagen is a proven treatment that has been in use for many years, and received approval from the Food and Drug Administration in 1981.

Collagen can be injected only after a skin test to ensure that you're not allergic to collagen. Collagen is injected using a fine needle. A local anesthesia can be used, to avoid any minor stinging or burning. Since part of the collagen injectable substance is a saline solution that will be absorbed by the body within a few days, we will slightly overfill the area.

Immediately following collagen injections, you may experience some minor discomfort, stinging or throbbing. No bandaging is needed and you are free to wear makeup and sunblock protection shortly after your collagen injections. There may be some temporary swelling and redness in the treated area which should dissipate within a few days. Occasionally some bruising or swelling will occur, but it is usually minor. If any symptoms persist, contact Dr. Aronowitz.

Collagen's longevity depends on the patient's lifestyle, physical characteristics, and the part of the body treated.
