Los Angeles Rhinoplasty - Rhinoplasty Procedure
Aesthetic nose surgery (rhinoplasty) is generally performed to reduce the overall size of the nose, reshape the tip of the nose, remove a nasal hump or improve a poor angle between the nose and the upper lip.

People choose rhinoplasty for a number of reasons. If you feel that your nose does not fit with the rest of your face, or creates an imbalanced appearance, then you may be interested in nasal surgery. Nose reshaping is also appropriate if the nose has been disfigured due to an injury, birth defect, or disease.
Dr. Aronowitz carefully sculpts the nose to produce a more attractive appearance that is in better proportion to the rest of your face. The result is a nose that fits your face and looks natural.
The Rhinoplasty Procedure
Rhinoplasty is performed at Cedars-Sinai's Los Angeles facility on an outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia.
The incision is made inside the nostrils, in which the work will be done. The incision provides the Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Aronowitz with access to cartilage and bone, which can be trimmed and manipulated to reshape the nose and alter its external appearance.
Recovery from Rhinoplasty
After nose reshaping surgery, you return home with an external cast or splint in place. The nose may be packed for 24 to 48 hours, and the cast or splint is usually removed in 7 to 10 days. Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. The majority of swelling and bruising subsides progressively over 2 to 4 weeks. External sutures (if any) are removed in 4 to 6 days, and internal sutures will dissolve.

The semifinal result of rhinoplasty is evident in 3 months. The final result is evident in 12 to 14 months. If you need to improve your breathing, correction of a deviated septum (septoplasty) may also be appropriate. An additional procedure that may enhance the result of a rhinoplasty is a chin enlargement to create a more symmetrical appearance.
Complimentary Procedures
Chin Augmentation surgery often complements a rhinoplasty. You may also want to address any premature signs of aging with popular non-surgical enhancements such as facial fillers.
Rhinoplasty is not covered by insurance if being done for cosmetic reasons. If, however, the nasal deformity is due to recent injury, insurance coverage may be available. Pre-authorization information can be obtained from your insurance company.
The specific risks and the suitability of nose reshaping can be determined only during your consultation with Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Aronowitz. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk, but major complications are unusual.
