Plastic Surgery Los Angeles - Post Operative Healing
Prescription Post Operative Healing Treatments RX
You can help your own recovery by following your doctor's recommendations at home as well as having post-operative treatments to help minimize discomfort, swelling and bruising which accompanies surgery.
Post operative treatments can be started as soon as your doctor recommends. It is best to schedule 3 to 6 treatments, depending on your individual healing pattern and number of surgical areas. These treatments are not included with surgery. Individual sessions and series packages are available. Please speak with our front desk coordinator to schedule your treatments. The first should coincide with your post-op visit with your doctor.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a relaxing and rhythmic massage technique that stimulates the lymphatic system to flush out toxins and dead cells. It reduces retention of fluid and inflammation in tissues to speed proper wound healing and break down any scar deposits that may form. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is an excellent treatment for anyone having had surgery on the face or body as well as those who have had a laser procedure or facial fillers.

Scar Therapy
Therapy addresses thickening, redness and hyper-pigmentation of incision sites. Depending on the quality of the scar, a specific chemical solution is applied and is followed by micro-dermabrasion. A treatment plan is outlined according to type of scar and its length and thickness.

Ultrasound Therapy
Ultrasound is a mechanical vibration delivered at a frequency above the range of normal human hearing. Sometimes used as an alternative to manual lymphatic drainage, ultrasound reduces swelling, bruising and inflammation and has been noted to affect fibroblasts and stimulate them to produce collagen. Ultrasound also reduces scar tissue and keloid scarring.
