About Dr. Joel Aronowitz.

Dr. Joel AronowitzDr. Joel Aronowitz is a prominent Plastic Surgeon in practice for over twenty years. The office suite is located adjacent to the highly regarded Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. For the past 24 years, he has held many leadership positions including serving as Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery for ten years as well as numerous teaching capacities. He is passionate about keeping Cedars-Sinai at the leading edge of medical care.

He is a graduate of the Accelerated MD program at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Texas, where he performed his General and Plastic Surgery residency training. Dr. Aronowitz is certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an Ambassador of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Additionally, he is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons as well as the California Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Aronowitz is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the USC Keck School of Medicine and the Medical Director of the University Stem Cell Center in Santa Monica.

Dr. Aronowitz is the Founder of the Breast Preservation Foundation. The mission of this non-profit organization is to reduce the unnecessary disfigurement of breast cancer surgery through increased awareness of oncoplastic techniques, like skin-sparing mastectomy through a national campaign of public awareness, medical research and education.

The education and training of future doctors is important, and Dr. Aronowitz makes his contribution through numerous lectures to medical audiences at Cedars-Sinai, nationally and internationally in Australia, Ecuador, China, Japan and Mongolia. Visiting doctors and students are frequently welcomed in the office. His medical interests include improvements to cosmetic surgery, minimally invasive techniques for facial and breast rejuvenation, facial paralysis and cosmetically superior breast cancer surgery. He participates in clinical studies of adult stem cells. Research advances have translated directly to patient care with the recent opening of the first Outpatient Surgical Center Stem Cell Laboratory; University Stem Cell Center, Dr. Aronowitz is a member of the facial paralysis team at the House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles and the Saul & Joyce Brandman Breast Center at Cedars Sinai.

Dr. Aronowitz is experienced and accomplished in most areas of Plastic Surgery with particular ability in facial rejuvenation, liposuction, and correction of breast problems from birth or prior surgery and body contouring for post-bariatric weight loss. He has found that the deepest success comes through his involvement early in the process and encourages patients to employ him as a member of their weight loss team. Through a strong support system, post-bariatric patients achieve the highest success.

Dr. Aronowitz’s practice philosophy is improvement of his patients’ lives through plastic surgery with an artistic eye and surgical creativity. He practices with a warm, professional bedside manner and subscribes to the ancient maxim; “the best way to care for patients is to CARE for your patients.”

On a personal note, Dr. Aronowitz is married with four children. He enjoys travel to little known destinations, training future plastic surgeons and is actively involved in several community charities.
